Automotive Cooling Reviews
American Street Rodder Magazine - October 2006 Volume 8 Issue 9
Midwest Cooling Technologies, Inc. (MCT), located in Norfolk, NE has developed an engine coolant that seems almost too good to be true. I took the challenge offered to me by owners Doug DeTour, his son Chris, and Gary Bruns, and I tested this product myself.
Before we get to deep into the actual process, let me remind you I'm not one to believe everything I read or hear, I have to touch, see and witness for myself before I jump on the bandwagon.
Doug sent me copies of several dyno tests that were performed by Bryce Anderson, Dyno Operator for Yankton Automotive Machine. On paper, the results looked pretty impressive, but what about real life applications here in the Heart of Dixie, not in Norfolk, Nebraska.
The tests were all conducted by me, in my shop on everyday vehicles: a 400cc Polaris four-wheeler (used around the shop and on the farm); a 1966 Chevelle convertible sporting a 400+ hp 454 cubic inch big block; a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with almost three hundred thousand miles, and a 2001 Chevy Tahoe (90k miles). In each case the overall coolant temperature dropped anywhere from 7° to about 18°, the oil temp on the Chevelle and Tahoe dropped significantly, and my four-wheeler (that often displayed a flashing red "hot" light), performed the weekly "cow and fence check" without running hot, also, my grandson and I were able to ride around more than usual without so much as a flicker from the hot light.
MCT manufactures two different products: Effective Racing Coolant; for serious racing enthusiasts and High Performance Coolant; designed and formulated to provide the very best engine performance while providing total protection from -45°F to over 250°F.
